In honor of our 3rd anniversary, we present The Most Hardcore Contest Ever: A Tribute! Compete for awesome prizes in 3 different categories: Flash, Graphics and Programming.
The contest begins on February 1, 2004 and will conclude on February 29, 2004. Submissions should be posted to this thread. Winners are decided by a panel of judges assembled by dream.in.code.
Flash Category: Design a flash header with a 'science' theme for the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair for 2007 located in Albuquerque, NM. Albuquerque is famous for the International Hot Air Balloon Festival each year. The Intel International Science and Engineering Fair is host to some of the brightest and most talented individuals around the world. Here is a look at the design which the flash header must fit in to. The purple area at the top is where the header must go:
http://clients.dream-studios.com/isef2007....outs/2004_1.gifGraphics Category:What would a dream.in.code contest be without a dream.in.code theme?! In honor of our 3rd birthday, design a background/wallpaper with a '3' theme, can be 3 of something, the number 3, the word, doesn't matter! Make sure you make all resolutions, not just 800x600
Programming Category: MadLibs! Remember MadLibs when you were a kid, those funny stories with fill in the blanks. You would always make them sound dirty... you know you did you pervert. But, all that aside, it's your turn to make your own MadLib. Using any programming language (web or console based, doesn't matter) program a script to display your own original MadLib and accept the input from the user in the form of text fields. Then print the MadLib back to the user with all the blanks filled in. This category will be judged on your creative writing skills as well as how you handled the input/output of the blanks. Post source code if in console language, and link to .txt with code as well as web page if language is web based.
All work submitted to this and any dream.in.code competition becomes the property of dream.in.code.
And now... for the prizes!!!Maxtor Hard Drive - This hard drive is fully functional with a storage capacity of 200MB (We Think...) Excellent condition, may need formatted
5 1/4" Floppy Drive - Removable storage is all the rage these days, and what better way to store your music, school work, and more than on a 5 1/4" floppy?! Drive may or may not work...
12-Pack of Mountain Dew - This 12 pack of mountain dew is 2 cans short, but still provides enough caffeine to get you through those long nights of code or ... whatever you do by yourself at night. Sicko!
Canned Air - A top of the line can of A-I-R, not exactly full, but probably enough air to blow the dust off the back of your monitor... you know you haven't cleaned it on for ever anyway!
Network Card - This 10/100 Mbps network card is in excellent condition, the lights do not actually come on however, which leads me to believe it does not work... still in excellent condition though.
PCI Slot Fan - An excellent addition to any desktop, keep the insides cool and dust free. (Slot plate and fan seperated, basically just sits on the bottom of the case... still moves a lot of air!)
Marko's awesome Stereo - A Mid 90's 2 speaker 3 disk changer stereo system made by Sanyo. The radio tuner seems to be a little out of wack and the motor for the cd tray is broken, but it sure looks cool! Sporting 1full centimeter of dust from not being touched in nearly 2 years! Also sports the 2 original speakers, one speaker is blown, but the other one works great!
4 AA Batteries - These duracell batteries are past their prime, having been used for months on end in the wireless mouse used to create and manage dream.in.code! Original package included (tape needed to hold packaging together, batteries are dead)
GET TO IT PEOPLE!!!
