Now, you guys should know by now that graphics isn't my main focus~ But I still like to dabble in Photoshop. I just took a shot at making a glass button, and this is what I came up with:

Looks nice, depending on how much you want the glass effect to shwo you may want to add like a 2px gaussian blur to the top gloss, and add a smaller gloss section with like 50% opacity added accordingly to the darker section of the button, this may help add to the psuedo 3D effect.

Another thing that you may want to think about is adding a shadow between the normal and the reflection.

Overall it is a great work and I love how you decided to make the metal around the button. Have fun!

it is a good start, and you have the right techniques, but in my opinion not very web 2.0

web 2.0 is more of a softer transition, brighter colors.

the bevel of the outer ring along with the inner shadows are too intense to be considered 2.0.

just a syntax thing, its a good icon, just if someone was to ask for a web 2.0 icon i don't think this is completely there. if someone wanted a mail icon hooray you got it. smile.gif

Thanks icon_up.gif I wasn't actually sure of the envelope icon~ I'll take that 2.0 stuff into consideration on my next design, thanks capty smile.gif

As for the deployment, it's kind of a yes and no. I'm putting stuff together as a portfolio. It's not actually for a job, but I'll be putting it together to show my abilities.

I have to agree, but very snazzy none-the-less.
