lightboxes, creating a lighbox

Hi Everyone-

I am very thankful to have just found this site as I am an artist making the transition to web design
and development.

After searching for lightbox code, I discovered that you must have the .net framework installed to
enable lighboxes to be customized and I am wondering if there are any lightboxes out there that
just use javascript or whatever with the html to work. I would like to create a portfolio page of
murals I have painted and a lightbox to showcase my work would be perfect.

Any advice and or direction would be greatly appreciated.
