I hope this is not a too-newbie question but, what should I pay attention to when buying a new graphics card?

Most importantly, you want one that will fit in your computer. If you have a card that's on board, then you'll need to make sure that you can use an alternate card. This is usually done through the bios or by a jumper on the mother board.

If you are a gamer, then you'll want something that meets (or exceeds) the limitations of the games.

Other than that is heat issue. Make sure you have the ability to keep it cool inside of your case.

That's all I've got.
