Hi, just looking for a Yes/No answer as I research potential technologies to use for a project I'm on at work. As long as I know it's possible, I should be able to work the rest out on my own.
In Flash, is it possible to create an application that will run locally that will stream video in fullscreen, then be interrupted by user input (assume mouse only) to display an interactive menu system that will also have embedded video, then (when idle) return back to the streaming video?
Thanks!
Bonus points if you would like to suggest a better or more suitable alternative set of technologies for this type of application.

Extra details if you want them:
- assume that only mouse input is available from the user
- assume that no one is manning this station (the user should be able to figure it out for themselves and not break anything)
- assume Windows (probably XP, but I'm very willing to listen to any reasons why Vista should be considered instead)
- assume use of FLV for video playback unless you have better ideas or reasons not to use it (again, I'm all ears)
- assume that I don't have any experience with Flash, ActionScript, Flex, or AIR but I learn fast

- ideally, i'd like to transition between the menu system and any full-screen videos with fades a la Valve's Steam application
