Hello everyone....... Here is my setup...... a Dell Power edge 2600 server with 1 100MBS connection and 1 GB connection to 2 gigabit switches.....One laptop with a gigbit card connection......with a ethernet connection to one of the switches/same switch that the server 1 gb is attached to......is there a way to ensure I am connecting to the faster connection to the server or do I need to setup a peer to peer service in xp to connect to the faster connection on the server? I am doing incremental backups daily and some full backups and would rather have the faster speed for copying the files to my laptop for burning on dvd........seems like when I first copy the files, they are going at the 100 mbs speed.....but then when I iniated another copy during that time the 2nd copy copied at the much faster speed......first copy was of 3.5 gb that took around 175 minutes to copy but 2nd copy was of a 2.5 gb file that only took 6 minutes to copy.......Any help would be greatly appreciated....... huh.gif
