My internet is a 6/2Mbps connection(or should be) but I am pretty far from my router which is rated for 802.11g/b. My computer that I am currently on normally gets a 2/1Mbps connection which is good enough for me, but for some reason, the connection has been very F'ed up in the last two days.I have 2 desktops and a laptop and all of the computers connections are very slow, but they are reading normal connections. I went onto the computer that has a LAN connection with the router and updated the firmware and checked that all the settings were correct with the router, and everything looked fine. The router has been losing connection in the last 2 days, so I would have to go unplug it and plug it back in and it would work, still with speed issues though. Well I went on speedtest.net and after 3 attempts to get onto the site, I got on and it took me nearly a second to ping a server that normally takes ~40ms to ping. Since I have updated the firmware on the router, a WGR614v6 by netgear, I do not know what could be wrong. Its not just one system but 3 that has problems. The laptop and my desktop just stop recieving packets, while the computer with a LAN connection works, but at a slower than normal rate. Could anyone give any suggestions as to what the problem is?
P.S. The laptop gets a bad connection when about 10 feet from the router, but it couldnt be the antenna because I am recieving signal about 100 feet away and the signal strength is about 45% with a link quality of 90%.
