All,

It's been a few months since I last asked for your opinions and suggestions, but it's that time again. We want to know what YOU think of dream.in.code. Please reply in this thread or PM me with any suggestions, complaints, improvements, or changes you feel we should address.

I want to hear from new members this time! Some things we are interested in knowing:
  • How helpful have our members been when you've had a programming/web dev problem? Is there anything you would change to make how we help people better?
  • Have you hesitated before posting because you didn't know if something was against the rules? Has this discouraged you from posting in the Caffeine Lounge?
  • Did you feel welcome as a new member? Were the replies you received friendly?
  • How do you perceive the overall attitude of the site? (Friendly, childish, mean, Fun, etc.)
  • Have you visited the Caffeine Lounge? If you have not posted in the Lounge, please let us know why not.
  • Is the information on dream.in.code well organized and easy to understand? Are we missing any topics, or are any of the topics to broad?
Those are a few things we are looking for feedback on, but you are welcome to address any other issues. If it's something involving another member or group of members, your feedback will remain confidential.

Without your feedback, we are flying blind, since we are on the site every day, we don't always notice the things you do. Bringing these to our attention is one way you can get involved and make dream.in.code a better place!

Looking forward to your replies,
Chris Kenworthy

How helpful have our members been when you've had a programming/web dev problem? Is there anything you would change to make how we help people better?

Very helpful, I think this site has been excelent in that.

Have you hesitated before posting because you didn't know if something was against the rules?

Once I hesitated to post some information about a key-cracker concerning someone who was supposedly locked out of their own computer. I feared that might be against policy of the site.

Has this discouraged you from posting in the Caffeine Lounge?

No, but I did post something that apparently got taken down by an admin in the Caffeine Lounge once....but I didn't hesistate.

Did you feel welcome as a new member? Were the replies you received friendly?

Yes, I found it very welcoming when I posted in the "Introduce Yourself" thread. Which was very different than most forums I've became a part of.

How do you perceive the overall attitude of the site? (Friendly, childish, mean, Fun, etc.)

Fun, Educational, motivating....?

Have you visited the Caffeine Lounge? If you have not posted in the Lounge, please let us know why not.

I have

Is the information on dream.in.code well organized and easy to understand?

Yes,

Are we missing any topics, or are any of the topics to broad?

Seems good to me biggrin.gif

Well this is what i think about DIC. smile.gif

icon_up.gif excellent layout, just few adver misplacements happen, but i subscribed to DIC++ to solve it.

icon_up.gif Reliable Tutorials and Code snippets.

icon_up.gif Fast responce from Admin ,Team members , Moderators and few other active members.

icon_up.gif This site puts explanation & logic >>> copy paste code.

icon_up.gif Zero Pop-ups and Messes (no spaaam!).

icon_up.gif Caffeine Lounge for members to interact in a relaxed way.

icon_up.gif Competitions in a healthy sense.

icon_up.gif If they really offer the benefits of DIC ++ for $15, then its a go for 5 years for sure.

icon_up.gif Always there's someone there to correct ya.
---------------------------------------
Now my sugesstions,
- include more font "sizes" and more font types in posting page. if possible.

- make the content while posting look EXACT after posting ( preview is similar, but i find a lot of lines down and up upon posting..)

-Add a page on how to write code- snippets and tutorials, so that the content in these are exact, neither too less nor too much.
----------------------------------------
Also some members like bug, pioSko , Amadeus and others are very caring to greet the members, its a good trend of fellowship smile.gif it must go on.
----------------------------------------
GO DIC !!

er... DIC++ soon.

I would have to agree with all the comments so far. Everyone is very welcoming. There is a much tighter sense of community at DIC that seems to be missing at other forums. I've used msdn forums several times before, but I was looking for a little more and found it here. The only suggestion I have so far is some way of knowing when a question / post has been answered.

AdmSteck-
When you are posting in a forum and/or replying to a post there is a section called "Post Options" right above the horizontal row of smilies, just check the "Enable email notifications of replies" and you should recieve an email notice at the email address you specified in your profile when that particular post is replied to smile.gif

The 'w00t!' after the navigation menu rids any faults there might be.

bug-
I do that. I was refering more of a way to look at posts and be able to tell whether or not the question has been answered without opening the post. I like to peruse the forums and look for questions that I might be able to help with. Right now the only way to tell if a question has not been answered is if it has no replies.

I've found the forum and members of this forum to be very friendly, and helpful.

I really like the layout of the forums and how there is no advertisements anywhere. There is many active members. And I really love the idea of being able to submit your own snippets, tutorials and resources.

The only few suggestions i have is to allow color tags to work in code tags. I've seen many forums allow that and it is really helpful.

Also there is no link back to the forums when you got the others sections (snippets, tutorials, etc..) Or am I missing it?
