Umm is using visual c++ that comes with visual studio(im using 2005) any good for learning c++? I want to learn in my spare time so for the moment i have no thoughts of cross platform or porting any references or anything to another machine.

I love Visual Studio for some reason, so I use it quite a bit. I think it's fairly easy to use as well, though I didn't learn C/C++ on it so I couldn't say if it's easy enough for that... but I would think so.

It's certainly more than adequate for learning C++, especially if you don;t have any concerns about cross platform or adherence to standards.

Keep in mind however that VS2005 has two distinct flavors of C++...Managed C++ which uses the .NET framework and is very different from the standard C++ language, and the standard C++ language.
