Every time i try to access phpmyadmin, i keep getting this error message:

MySQL said: Documentation
#2002 - The server is not responding (or the local MySQL server's socket is not correctly configured)

I have looked around the internet and it seems like i have to make a /tmp directory to place all of the mysql.sock files. I am not sure whether this is supposed to be on my machine or on the internet and if so where. My php is working correctly and i can see the phpinfo page. If you need my config file, i can send it and i am running on a windows machine, if thats any help. Any help would be greatly appreciated by me. Help a newbie out!

The /tmp directory should be on your machine - check your config file for where exactly it's looking.

It's currently configured for a linux system - you need to give it a path to a temporary folder where it can keep its temporary files.

i just put a path to a folder on the remote server 'phpmyadmin/tmp/mysql.sock' and i have created the 'tmp' folder inside the 'phpmyadmin' folder where all the stuff is. how do i create the mysql.sock file now? if i can get this right, do you think it will get rid of that 2002 mysql error?
