Just taking a break from coding video games to get a new topic going
Final Fantasy 7 was largely responsible for RPGs becoming so popular in the west, but was it the (at the time) next gen graphics and the launch of the playstation which helped this along.
Some people claim that Squaresoft had made there masterpiece with Final Fantasy 6, and that FF7 while also a triumph was largely inferior to its predecessor, Final fantasy 6 had threading storylines, an awesome battle system and an epic storyline. FF7 had a slightly simplified battle system where every member of your party could use any magic and ability which took away any party choices that werent purely for aesthetic value.
FF7 did introduce the best villain in videogame history in the guise of Sephiroth (Sephiroth over Kefka anyday
