Okay So I've decided to try and make my own browser based web game, well at least I'm going to try to do so.

I know it's going to be a very long process but I have most of the summer and hopefully I can make some progress then.

The question is, Where should I start?
I have read up on HTML/CSS/MySQL/PHP.
Is this sufficient?
I am playing around with these languages right now, testing them out.
I also have the idea of my game all planned out in my head.

Once I have tried out all the languages to get a slight hang of it, I'm going to want to start working on the actual game itself, so what should I pursue first?

I kind of want to start with something easy so as time goes by and I work on it I will be able to understand the whole thing more and can then do the hard stuff with less trouble then.

PHP, MySQL, and XHTML/CSS should be all you need.

I would recommend that you start off with your registration system.

This is a bit of a shameless plug, because I own the site - but http://buildingbrowsergames.com is slowly working through tutorials on how to build a browsergame - while the tutorials aren't for everyone and do require a bit of knowledge of PHP/MySQL/etc., hopefully you can at least take a look at them and get an idea of the right direction to take.

That's a great idea, making a whole tutorial on browser based games and all.
I've bookmarked your site biggrin.gif
Will check it out later in a while.

Edit- I have a suggestion for it, Why not have a step by step page for real beginners like me to look through.
Like, 1. Create the database (and you link to the tutorial for that) 2. Create the Signup/Login Page (and you link this to the tutorial for it) etc.

Well this is just my personal opinion but when Its my first time making a browser based game I really don't know where to start or what to do first and you have so many awesome tutorials there it's hard for me to choose smile.gif
