If you are using a lot of code the easiest way to get things working in a smaller file size is to create a .as file that has all the classes and functions you are usign in it and just hav the calls in your .swf. That way you get rid of as much text/code as possible and will still have it looking and acting the exact same.

Just a question.. What will reduce the file size better.. more Animation done in actionScript? or more Animation Done in actual images.. slides ? blink.gif

Well, I am not positive here, but in FLash 8 it gives you easy ways to do tween in actionscript an in flash CS3 if allows ou to convert animated tweens into AS3 code.

It depends on how many of the same tweens you have I guess. If you hae a lot of the same animations over and over it would likely be easier (and smaller) to have an actionscript class that does the animation for you in code that you just call to as many times as needed instead of trying to get each little variation of the animation saved off as its on animation.

I am not positive that this is the case, but it would make since if it was, especially if all the tweens were coded in a separate .as file.

Hmm.. So if you can do the same animation using code.. then its better.. I'm not really into flash or actionscript.. but.. this same principle IMO applies to all... blink.gif thanks for the confirmation bro..

No problem, I just find everything easier when the user only needs to wait for a small streaming file to load rather than a large one, that way they have less time to wait and get less frustrated waiting for the content to show up.
