hi guys ive recently started my new job as a web developer for a small company, i was just wondering all you other developers out there, how far back to you version test your web sites browser wise? currently im testing on
IE 6/7 safari and firefox, do you think that this is enough,

the reason ive asked this is ive just completed a site, and the customer is using a mac and using IE 5/5.5 for the Mac and the sight looks slightly out, now ive done a look around and i get the impression that the market share for this browser is that small should i really build and test for this browser, he realized how old his browser is and updated to safari 3, but i was wondering he could now say but what if someone else is using the same browser or even safari 2, what would you say to something like that, i mean it was one page in particular which had a jquery gallery on it, what would you guys suggest im wondering in a situation such as this,

does anyone have a link to a site containing some good stats about browser versions and percentage of users as something like this might help no end.

thanks again

Dan

I believe that is enough, Whenever I do the testing it is usually on the major browsers or the versions still in use say IE 6.0 and Higher, Firefox 1-3, even opera, however Yes that should be enough on what you're using now, also if you can why not get another computer with different os see how it looks there?

Both of those are more than I do when testing a website out (granted that may be the reason most of my sites don't have many members...

I simply test in Mozilla (yes mozilla) 1.7.11, IE6, IE7, and If I am feeling particularly nice Opera.

I just figure that if my site works in Mozilla 1.7 it should look the same, if not better, in Firefox (though I could be mistaken).
