Alright, I need to make something but I'm going to make the small game idea I had of an arcade like game called NovaForce. Yes all my games are going to have two random cool sounding words melted together with two capital letters^^

This is a game design problem, I want to run it past the community here.

Overview

Basically, you're this person IPB Image and you run around killing stuff. I'm not going to make some uber-dense game, I want to be straightforward and give the RPG player what they want- run around some cool dungeons killing stuff and leveling up. Also it's going to be kawaii~

There's going to be some basic character development in preparation screens in between some of the levels.

I'm just not sure how exactly the gameplay will work out. Things like how the weapons/powers will work, how will the player go through the levels and how am I going to record everyone's scores. I don't even know HOW to do the latter, I mean I've been to websites where everyone who has ever played the game leaves their name and high score for everyone to see on the server.

Specifics

Sayu IPB Image uses the following weapons:

Large Automatics
Pressing and holding the Z key shoots Sayu's currently equipped Automatic Assault Gun. She wields guns designed to tear through oncoming enemies and pierce armor. It uses special long and thin rounds which deal fire damage to enemies and objects they hit. Armored enemies can block the sword but are no match for a gun.

2-Handed Swords
Pressing the X key swings Sayu's currently equipped 2-Handed Sword. It doesn't use up ammo and it can clear away objects and defeat some enemies the automatic weapons can't. Bullets will fly right through or bounce off of creatures that don't have a solid structure or are not even coperal, but this special kind of sword can touch them.

Option
There are a variety of tools that can be used by pressing A, these can be equipped and used. Holding A and pressing up and down switches the optional weapons.

Jumping is done with the C key.


However there is much I'm not sure of and I would like lots of input, please^^

Well most of your enemies are from what's mysteriously known as "The Coming Darkness", it's quite a cliche name but the enemy themselves are very strange.

I put a story in for all those story-loving kawaii Japanese RPG fans, but I'm pretty sure the shoot-first-ask-questions-later people I know will not care and will skip the scenes even the first time they see them.

Even WeaponSoul was going to be a game where the introduction is made while you play the game to satisfy the story-lovers and to satisfy the trigger-happy people who just want to kill stuff.

I'm not a fan of pressing the button to see the next window of dialog and having to read pages and pages of people talking, if I was going to do that I would... well I would read a book!

Well ok then.... Have big nice looking monsters with huge tentacles but when pissed they throw flowers at you. Not just the regular daisies or dandylions but the ones with thorns like roses or something.

Well, I think a shoot/slash fest is good for short breaks sho not too much depth. But if you want to make anything with more depth in it dont make hordes of enemies to chop/shoot away without even have to look. Make enemies that each need a different way to kill (only killeable by tricking it in an attack of a fellow enemy?). Else it's gonna get moved to the big section of worthless games.

The AI running the enemies will still be strange, I want the player to be a little surprised that the enemies are acting strangely because they might expect the enemies to run and scream at them like normal games.
