Best Language for Visual Programs?

My Contributions
I was wondering what people believe to be the best languages for creating visual (not command line) programs, i've extensive background in java and c, but purely mathematical command line stuff, and i'd like to start creating actaul programs, not really sure where to begin, if anyone has any good tutorials, or advise?

I don't think the language matters as much as the GUI toolkit.

I haven't done much with it but FLTK looks like a very nice GUI toolkit.

Java has Swing, which really isn't too bad.

My Contributions
For windows you can use Visual C++ or .NET
You just have to design your form with a resource editor and link control events to your code.
