Well that is certainly a cool idea and boy would it be a money making machine if you got enough users participating. You could sell advertising and give sites premium sponsorship spots that would draw your audience to the site. I definitely think it is something you should look into more. One thing to really focus on is how to give a site the special item/weapon or whatever for the game and prevent other sites and people from stealing it and putting it on their site etc.

Do it right though and you could command a legion of gaming enthusiasts to visit target sites and companies would pay big bucks for that.
