Hi,

This Logic design question is based upon the illumination of traffic lights through the use of a circuit.
I am confused on how to proceed with the question and would appreciate any help!

first are your trying to design the illumination of a traffic light at an intersection. if so think about what use cases you will need to make the traffic light work properly. Is it a four way intersection vs a three way intersection. then after you have your use cases done you can move on to a class diagram. and so on.

It's an electronic circuit.

Whoa, this takes me back to my logic design class days in college. You first have to design your Logic table based on the requirements given, eg. the traffic lights timing. Place a 1 or 0 in the columns NS (red or green) and EW (red or green) to indicate which light should turn on or off based on the requirements.

When your done with that you should be able to derive the logical equations of the output columns (which should be your red or green LEDs) for the NS and EW traffic lights. Now that you have the logical equations, simplify them to reduce the number of logic gates or IC you'll be using, and finally draft the circuit layout based on your simplified logic equations.
